Rhino + 18th Century = ?

I've been keeping myself busy in my idle time by painting nonsense. So I did this this morning, between breakfast and lunch.

monochrome version, which I might actually like more.

Ringling + Brothers

Hahahaha, get it? Ringling Brothers? I am so witty.

But yeah, I arrived at Ringling a few days ago, and I've gone through orientation, and my first class is tomorrow! I'm pretty excited. It all seems very awesome. The library's awesome. The museum is awesome. The people are awesome. Yeah, I think I'm gonna like it.

And for your viewing pleasure here's the "brothers" half of the post. I drew this for CGtalk's Daily Sketch forum. The topic was "the big brother." I know it's not the most creative of interpretations, but it was fun. Bright colors.

Once again, this is over the limit by about 2x. You can go hunting on CGtalk if you want to see the 55 minute version.

Reflection

just a fun sort of thing, really, based on Mulan. Need to watch that movie again... about an hour and a half of work.

I'm all excited about Ringling, very antsy. Man, I can't believe there's less than a week and then I'm there--! It's making it very hard to do anything productive, though, I can't sit still long enough. Although I did paint some pelicans.

...but... you know.... They're pelicans.

Cade

So I'm still doing the floating head thing...

actually, this was a gift for my sister. She wanted help designing a character. And yes, she specifically wanted the mutton chops, I'm not completely to blame.

Pardon the ears. It's his species.

Tarzan, Snow White Coloring fun

Nothing I post is in any kind of order, by the way

A few days ago I was browsing the interwebs when I came across the spectacular blog of Sam Nielson. After taking my time to look through all his posts, I naturally felt inspired to draw. In one of his more recent posts (see link) he mentions how he took a master's art work, and a disney princess coloring sheet, and combined the two into one shockingly epic painting. So I decided to try it, too.

I did Snow White. But being the lazy soul I am, I didn't reference my color palette like he did. Looks ok, I guess, but I don't think I captured her "ness" so well.

Then someone mentioned to me the idea of painting Tarzan. I thought, brilliant! That sounds like so much fun! So I did, though once again too lazy to reference the colors. But I quite like how he turned out.

In any case, it was a fun exercise.

Remy

one of these days I'll stop doing floating heads and start doing actual illustrations...
