
Yup, this is definitely one of the most bizarre things I've ever painted!
This was done for my "Western Music and Painting" class. The assignment was to create a design/image based on Schoenberg's
Variations for Orchestra, Op. 31. See, Schoenberg invented this way of arranging music called the Serial system, where you basically pick a sequence of 12 non-repeating notes and then transmute them in various ways to create a composition.... which is rather interesting in theory, but the result (to my uncultured tastes, anyway) kind of sounds like rubbing your eardrums with a cheese grater.
Still, it was a good opportunity to try something different.
There was actually legitimate conceptual thought put into this piece, but I won't bore you with the details. Have a look and a
