Little Red Monster (color)

Yep... I did it again.

Such a fangirl!

Drawing by Sandro Cleuzo, color by me. No color thumbnails this time, because I wanted to do it quickly and I knew from the get-go that I wanted him to be red (the blue lips came later, though)

"Nina"- Emperor's New Groove Color Practice

Back again with another color test!

It's another Sandro Cleuzo drawing, this time of an unused character from The Emperor's New Groove, named Nina.

She was hard. Girls are hard. Metal is hard. I could probably keep fiddling with it, but it's time to move on.

Part of the reason I find girls harder to paint is that people tend to use so few lines to define their features-- because, draw too many lines and they look aged, unhealthy, or just unappealing. But what that means is that the three-dimensionality of many forms is largely left up to the imagination...

For example, here's a little behind-the-scenes view of one of the early ways I interpreted her face (on the right). It wasn't working for me, and I'm glad I pushed forward.

Cheers.

Home on the Range... Color practice!

I wanted to do some coloring practice... I've never seen Disney's Home on the Range, but as I was browsing the Living Lines Library, this design caught my eye, and I thought it would be fun to render!

The original drawing is by Sandro Cleuzo, whose work is insanely appealing and makes me want to do more of these.

Cheers
